This is just a little bit about us and the adventure we're on...

Deli.jpg

We both grew up in Oxfordshire and we have always had an inherent love of fine food. We had become disillusioned with our current careers and decided to give up or occupations and go head first in to our love of food.

We loved finding new delicatessens, farm shops, farmers markets and fine food shops to see what they had to offer and put our finds to use in the kitchen.

Whilst both in unfulfilling fields of work we got to thinking about setting up or taking over a business in the speciality food industry, this started a long road of looking at premises and other businesses to see what was on the market.

We initially thought of trying to amalgamate a pub and farm shop before narrowing our idea to a Great British Delicatessen. Although we may go back to our original idea in the future.

The reason behind opening a Great British Deli was that we both knew that Britain has plenty of wonderful produce being made by independent producers and the likelihood is that a lot of people may not be aware, and certainly may not have tried some of the produce which is at farmers markets and the wide range of products that are not in the supermarkets.

We have travelled far and nationwide seeking out a wide variety of British produce from cheese, charcuterie and other speciality food products, to slate, pottery, art and lifestyle/ homeware products. Bringing it all together for a little taste of Britain in Thame.

We hope to see you  soon.

Hannah and Joe.
